I've just jumped back into the dating world, and I recently went on my first blind date. We met at a restaurant and had a lovely evening! The conversation was great and he was quite a gentleman, but unfortunately there was just no chemistry that I could feel; however, at the end of the evening, he asked me for a second date, so that leads me to believe that he possibly felt something more than I did. How do I let him down easy??

Dear Just Not Feelin' It,
The best thing to do is just be truthful and direct. Tell him that although you had an enjoyable evening and you think he's a great guy, you just didn't feel that spark, cupid didn't hit you with his arrow, or the love-bug just didn't bite. No matter what over-used dating cliche you choose, it's better to let him know sooner than later, otherwise you run the risk of unintentionally leading him on. And you should never try to avoid hurting someone's feelings by pretending you like them more than you really do.

I recently met a guy online. We met for dinner on our first date, and we got along great! We had tons in common, and there was never a lull in the conversation. At the end of the evening, he asked me for a second date, which I accepted. Our second date also went well...or so I thought. I don't know because he never called me back! Now I feel hurt. How can you have two really great dates with someone and then never hear from them again? Is there something I should have done differently?

There are many possible scenarios behind this situation. I'll list the more probable ones. It could be that although you two had a fun time and you thought you both connected, he may not have felt the same way. Or perhaps you somehow unintentionally gave off the vibe that you weren't as interested in him, and he didn't want to risk rejection by asking you out again. It's also possible that he was just testing the dating waters with you but then met someone else online that he liked more. Whatever the reason, it was very inconsiderate of him to just not call you back. A gentleman would have at least offered an explanation. Then again, maybe he was abducted by aliens. Who knows.
